At the Board of Commissioners, (BOC), last meeting, April 19, 2022, Planning and Development presented a new zoning provision for us to review and consider.
Remember all BOC meetings are open to the public. The next update on this new zoning will be at the BOC meeting on May 3, 2022, starting at 6 PM.
Coweta is having a Citizens Summit. This will allow a number of constituents in, the county, and my district to understand how the county and process, within, work. Thank you for your interest!
If you have an interest here is the link to review and determine if you have the time to participate. Citizen Summit.
Constituents, as you are aware, the citizens of Coweta County unanimously passed by a 68% approval, allowing distilled spirits (liquor) stores in unincorporated Coweta County.
The Board of Commissioners (BOCs) approved to allow three stores in the unincorporated parts of the county.
January 6, 2022, the BOCs approved the first license, and it will be located off Interstate 85, Exit 41, and Highway 29.
On January 20, 2022, at the BOC meeting, there will be another public hearing for the next license to be approved. It will be located, in a stand-alone building, behind Bojangles and beside Tractor Supply, off of Highway 34.
If you are for or against this, please comment to let me know.
DEC 20, 2021 PULTE UPDATES - MEETING DATE AND TIME
Menu
The community meeting that will allow citizens to discuss and see what they would like to establish will be held on January 11, 2022, starting at 6:30 PM and continue until 8:00 PM.
The location of the meeting will be at the Newnan Church of Christ located at 2675 Highway 34, Newnan, GA 30265.
Please confirm attendance if possible, to assure appropriate seating.
Also, please bring any concerns and/or questions for the developers to the meeting.
Your input is greatly needed, and appreciated, to assist Coweta county in its growth objectives. You only have a few days left to complete the survey and I ask that everyone that can. please do so. The survey can be found at https://cowetaplans.com .
Please get involved and share with your neighbors. Proper growth can only happen if all of us are involved.
There are two potential developments coming to our district.
One is beside Costco and it is an Active Senior Development, high-end apartments. I believe there will be about 165. the development will be high-end with rents between 2100 and 3300 per month. The developer is Capitol Senior Housing. The zoning for this type of development has already been approved so the only item they would need to bring before the commission are any variances they might request.
The other is Lou Sohb Automotive Group. They have dealerships in Georgia and they want to bring a KIA dealership across from Publix at Thomas Crossroads. They will need to have some zoning changed to be able to do this.
My question to all is would you like me to arrange another community meeting to allow them to discuss the projects and receive questions and concerns from you?
Pulte (Del Webb) project that was presented to District 4 constituents, please be advised. They are wanting to accommodate the traffic that was discussed in the meetings. The new plan allows a property exit directly to Highway 34, as seen here PulteGroup Lotting Plan I.
ESPLOST UPDATE: The Coweta County School Board voted, 6 yeses, and 1 no, to place the Educational Special Purpose Local Optional Sales Tax (ESPLOST) on the November 2, 2021 Ballot. The attached is the best detailed budget that has been made public. Whether you are for this continued tax or not please be aware of this Ballot measure for this November. Please get out and vote and most of all share this with your friends and neighbors.
As promised, here is the proposed budget, understand R&M is not a capital project. And, again, I ask how did we do this before ESPLOST?? This tax is not warranted and we must get THE WORD OUT to everyone.
Everyone, it is now upon us, yet for the sixth time, Educational Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST), even after they raised our taxes, based on new home values by 13%. This is where you will determine whether or not we allow the school board to continue their mass taxing of us, the citizens of Coweta. Coweta school system has not seen much of an increase in students over the past years. Enrollment has been around 22,500 students, kind of like zero population growth, i.e., the students that graduate are back filled with new students starting in the system. As you contemplate this upcoming ESPLOST vote, during an off-election time, I would ask how did the school system ever repair buses, HVACs, roofs, etc., without a ESPLOST. Once you give a taxing entity a new tax it will not ever go away unless we stop it and hold our elected officials and school administration to be accountable for what they are elected for or employed for. I will be posting the proposed budget for this new ESPLOST so be on the lookout for it. Please inform your friends, neighbors and colleagues about this new tax. WE NEED TO HOLD OUR SCHOOL BOARD AND ADMINISTRATION ACCOUNTABLE...
